Parish Anniversary Prayers

Gracious God we give thanks as we celebrate the Second anniversary of Epiphany parish. We celebrate all the joys that we had in the past years. We celebrate all the happy times, all the accomplishments, and all the triumphs. Thank You, Lord, for blessing us.

We acknowledge that there have been, and still continue to have, struggles and painful moments. Yet we have travelled together under Your protection and love. Thank You, Lord, for being with us in good times and bad. We ask, Lord, that You would continue to protect us, guide us and sustain us as we go forth in our life in faith as one family in this parish.

We are thankful to the support we have received from our Diocese as well as local community that have allowed us to do the work of furthering God’s Kingdom here in Mui Wo and beyond. We continue to pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to work through us in ministries in our local community as well as those beyond our boundaries

Loving God, we offer unto You a prayer of thanks and ask Your blessing on all those who have served and worked in this Church in the past years. We pray that You will deepen within each of us a sense of gratitude for the many sacrifices made for us by those who have gone before us, and thereby find this parish a place of spiritual renewal and nourishment.

Gracious God, as we celebrate our past and rejoice in our present, we also look forward with eager eyes to the future. We pray that You would continue to make Your love known among us. Give us a zeal for mission. Help us to look beyond our walls to those who do not know You. Make this church a blessing to those around us, and strengthen us to move forward with courage toward what lies ahead.

We give You thanks for Your grace in calling us to be Your people, for Your love revealed to us in Christ Your Son, for Your gift of the Spirit and the joy of salvation: We give thanks for all who have been members of this congregation, those who have given freely of their time, energy and wealth, and for those whose wisdom guided our congregation: We give thanks for all who have preached and taught here.

We seek the powerful intercession of Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Mother and of St. Antony Mary Claret our Patron that we may filled with the love of Christ and always remain a centre of hope and charity for one another and for all those people who live around us. Amen!

Our Father ….

Hail Mary ….

Glory Be to the Father …

As early as 1970’s, the religious community in Mui Wo rented a small village house in 51 Chung Hau Street as the chapel. A priest who resided in Tai O Church came every week for the Sunday mass in Mui Wo. In 1971 a new chapel was constructed in Tung Chung. The Chapel was named as the “Visittation Chapel”, Tung Chung in 2001.

The chapel in Mui Wo was once named “Jesus, the Holy Child Chapel”. Although its origin could not be traced, people remembered that there was once a nicely carved baby Jesus statue placed in the church, which was a gift by another chapel during renovation.  Bishop John Wu re-named the Chapel as “Epiphany Chapel” in 1987. PIME Fathers and the Fathers of the Missionary Oblates of the Mary Immaculate (OMI) were entrusted with the pastoral care of the whole island of Lantau.

In 2006 the management of the parish was transferred to the Missionaries of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) who continued to serve the parish till  October 2015. In 2015, the Diocese of Hong Kong bifurcated the parish into North and South of Lantau, creating two parishes namely the Visitation Parish, Tung Chung in the North of Lantau and the Epiphany parish, Mui Wo in the south. The SVD fathers continue to serve the region in the Visitation Parish and and the Epiphany Parish, Mui Wo is served by Claretian Missionaries from 1 November 2015.

On 1 November 2015 the Claretian Missionaries began a new mission in Hong Kong, probably 487th House of the Congregation which serves in 63 countries around the world. The new parish is in the farthest periphery of Hong Kong, a tiny Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China(PRC).

於2015年11月1日諸聖節,聖母聖心愛子會(CMF)的馬浩恩神父(Fr. Josekutty Mathew)及羅庇道神父(Fr. Alberto Rossa)接管了新的堂區。
